Tigers Sign Robbie Grossman
4 years agoThe Detroit Tigers signed outfielder Robbie Grossman to a two-year contract worth $10 million on Tuesday, according to a source. The deal includes $500,000 in incentives for each year of the deal. It's the first multi-year free-agent deal for Detroit since the offseason of 2015-16 when they signed Jordan Zimmermann and Justin Upton to long-term deals. The 31-year-old Grossman has a .350 on-base percentage despite a .252 career batting average. The Tigers hope he'll bring more plate discipline to a free-swinging and young lineup. Grossman hit eight home runs and 12 doubles in 51 games in 2020 for a career-best .482 slugging percentage with the A's. He could see everyday at-bats between outfield and designated hitter, making him a nice OBP depth outfielder in deeper fantasy leagues.
