Eagles Players Didn't Like Jalen Hurts' Benching
4 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders said that "nobody" on the team liked the decision to bench rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts for Nate Sudfeld in the Week 17 loss to the Washington Football Team, who took the NFC East title with the win. Head coach Doug Pederson was determined to get Sudfeld some work in the game, but many players and coaches on the sidelines were "shocked and outraged," according to The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane. Hurts was 7-for-20 for 72 yards and also ran the ball eight times for 34 yards and two touchdowns before being pulled. Sudfeld predictably struggled, tossing an interception and losing a fumble. Philly has a major decision to make under center heading into 2021. Is Hurts their guy or will they give Carson Wentz another chance? Hurts outplayed Wentz when given the opportunity, and his dual-threat ability will make him a high-end QB2 in 2021 if Wentz is out of the picture.
