La'Mical Perine Tests Positive For COVID-19
4 years agoNew York Jets rookie running back La'Mical Perine tested positive for COVID-19 and will be put on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, meaning that he will be unavailable for the Week 17 regular season finale against the Patriots. The 22-year-old would have been in line for a lead-back role this weekend with veteran Frank Gore (lung) already ruled out. If Ty Johnson and Josh Adams aren't deemed high-risk close contacts of Perine, they should see an increase in opportunities in the backfield this Sunday for the final game of the season. Perine will finish his rookie season with 232 rushing yards and two touchdowns in 10 games while also adding 11 catches for 63 yards. Johnson will be the more attractive fantasy option this weekend, but he'll be more of a low-upside RB3/flex against New England.
