J.T. Realmuto Remains A Priority For Phillies
4 years agoRe-signing catcher J.T. Realmuto remains a top priority for the Philadelphia Phillies under their new front office. They have extended an offer to him, but it will be a waiting game as we approach the new year. Realmuto has been the league's best hitting catcher the last few years and has played really well ever since the Phillies acquired him from the Marlins in 2019. With the Mets already adding their catcher in James McCann, the Phillies remain the best bet to sign Realmuto this offseason, even with the team trying to stay under the luxury tax threshold. The 29-year-old backstop hit .266/.349/.491 with 11 home runs and 32 RBI in 47 games during the shortened 2020 season and should still be the first catcher off the board in fantasy drafts in 2021.
