Sammy Watkins Suffers Calf Injury
4 years agoKansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins (calf) suffered a calf injury in the Week 16 win over the Falcons, but it's not believed to be a serious injury, according to a source. However, with the top seed in the AFC and home-field advantage locked up already, Watkins will likely be rested in Week 17 against the Chargers, which means he'll have two full weeks to recover before the team's first playoff game. The 27-year-old caught just two passes for 14 yards in a defensive battle against the Falcons on Sunday. Watkins has missed some time with injury this year and has only 37 receptions for 421 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games. He's typically a boom/bust WR4/flex with all of the weapons that KC has to offer in the passing attack. Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson will have some appeal in a meaningless Week 17 game against the Bolts, depending on how long quarterback Patrick Mahomes plays.
