Lions Defense Releases Jayron Kearse
4 years agoThe Detroit Lions released starting safety Jayron Kearse on Monday, according to a source. The former Viking started seven games for the Lions this year and racked up 59 tackles, two passes defensed and a forced fumble in 11 total games in his first and only season in Detroit. The 26-year-old is an experienced defensive back who could help a contending team in the playoffs if he's claimed off waivers. Kearse was a seventh-round pick by the Vikings in 2016 and has 138 combined tackles, one interception and 10 passes defensed in his five years in the NFL. Detroit's defense was just torched by Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in Week 16. They are well off the fantasy radar in Week 17 against the Vikings.
