Alex Smith Has A Good Day At Practice
4 years agoWashington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith (calf) returned to practice on Wednesday and had a "really good day." Smith was officially limited, but he has a chance to return in Week 16 against the Panthers after sitting out last weekend. Washington had hoped all along that Smith's absence was just a one-week thing, and it's trending in that direction as of Wednesday. Dwayne Haskins Jr. filled in last week, but he'd return to the backup role if Smith can play. The 36-year-old veteran is 4-1 as a starter and turned Washington's offense into a top-10 unit. Unfortunately, that hasn't really translated to fantasy success, and Smith would remain a low-end QB2 if he's starting against Carolina. He has yet to throw more than one touchdown in any of his starts in 2020.
