Nationals Open To Trading Carter Kieboom
4 years agoThe Washington Nationals are open to trading infielder Carter Kieboom, according to sources. However, young pitching prospects Cade Cavalli and Jackson Rutledge, the team's last two top draft picks, are not on the trade block. Kieboom could become the trade chip that helps bring in some star talent such as Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant. The Nationals will not just give the 23-year-old away, however, despite his offensive and defensive struggles so far at the major league level. Kieboom has a .181/.309/.232 slash line in 165 plate appearances between 2019-20, albeit in a small sample size. He came up as a shortstop when he was a first-rounder in 2016, but he moved to the hot corner last year with Trea Turner entrenched at shortstop. If he isn't dealt, Kieboom will have to earn the starting third base duties in D.C. in 2021.
