Doug Pederson Mum On Jalen Hurts Starting Another Game
4 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson wouldn't name a starter at quarterback for Week 15 against the Cardinals despite rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts playing very well in the upset win over the Saints in his first career start in Week 14. However, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says it's basically a foregone conclusion that Hurts -- who became the first rookie QB to run for 100 yards and throw a touchdown pass in his first NFL start -- will start again against Arizona this weekend. With just three games remaining in the regular season, Hurts could have cemented himself the starting gig the rest of the way over Carson Wentz, whose contract could be traded in the offseason. Hurts is an intriguing dual-threat signal-caller, but he averaged only 5.6 yards per completion on Sunday against a very tough Saints Defense. Fantasy managers will want to see more from Hurts as a QB2, but his rushing ability will give him a higher floor than most.
