Denzel Mims Leaves Team For Family Emergency
4 years agoNew York Jets rookie wide receiver Denzel Mims has left the team's facility for his home in Texas to deal with a family emergency, according to a source. It's unknown if Mims will make it back in time on Wednesday to get tested and to stay in the league's COVID-19 protocols. The 23-year-old from Baylor caught just two of three targets for 40 yards in the Week 13 loss to the Raiders and has 19 receptions for 324 yards and no touchdowns in the first six games of his career. If he is ineligible to play in Week 14 against the Seahawks, Breshad Perriman and Jamison Crowder would be in line to see more targets against a Seahawks Defense that has been much better defending the pass in the last five weeks. Vyncint Smith, Jeff Smith and Braxton Berrios would be battling for scraps as the No. 3 receiver if Mims doesn't play Sunday.
