Nolan Arenado Could Be An Option For Mets
4 years agoColorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado could be an option for the New York Mets and could be more attractive as a trade target than Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor because of his contract. Arenado and Lindor can become free agents after the 2021 season, but Arenado would need to opt out of the $164 million he's due to make from 2022 to 2026. Arenado could also agree to push his opt-out ability back a few years to facilitate a trade. Trading for Lindor would mean negotiating a new deal. J.D. Davis was the team's primary third baseman last year, but he is a defensive liability. Not only is Arenado one of the best defensive third baseman in history, but he can also do it all with the bat.
