49ers GM Backs Jimmy Garoppolo
4 years agoSan Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch on Friday said that the organization is still behind quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle). "Here's what I know about Jimmy Garoppolo, and I think I've been consistent: We're a better football team when he's out there. We win a lot of games when he's out there. We've struggled to win without him," Lynch said. The signal-caller is currently on Injured Reserve with his second high-ankle sprain, but he doesn't need surgery "right now." It's unclear if he'll play again in 2020, especially if the team is out of contention by the time he's healthy. Jimmy G's subpar play could lead the team to move on from him after the season, but for now, the 49ers are in his corner. He can be dropped in single-season formats, while his replacement, Nick Mullens, is merely a low-end QB2 option in two-QB leagues.
