Phillies Open To Retaining J.T. Realmuto
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies president Andy MacPhail said that he is optimistic that the team can re-sign free-agent catcher J.T. Realmuto. It will be interesting to see if the Phillies put their money where their mouth is in regards to Realmuto, who is widely considered to be the best offensive catcher in the game. The two-time All-Star slashed .266/.349/.491 with 11 home runs and 32 RBI in 47 games and 173 at-bats for the Phillies during the shortened 60-game season in 2020 in his second year with the team. He hit .275 with a career-high 25 long balls, 83 RBI and nine stolen bases in his first full season with Philly in 2019. He should continue to be the first catcher off the board in fantasy drafts in 2021, even if he doesn't return to the Phillies.
