Tyler Glasnow To Face Yanks In Decisive Game 5
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow will make the start in Game 5 of the American League Division Series against the Yankees on Friday night. It's the second straight year that Glasnow has faced off against Gerrit Cole in Game 5 of the ALDS, with Cole pitching for the Astros in 2019. Glasnow was the winning pitcher in Game 2 on Tuesday, and he'll be throwing on just two days of rest this time around. He has never started a game on short rest in his career. The last pitcher to start a game on two days of rest after a five-plus inning start was Red Sox pitcher Derek Lowe in the 2004 ALCS win over the Yankees. Glasnow allowed four runs and struck out 10 in Game 2. The right-hander has plenty of strikeout upside, but he'll be more risky than Cole in DFS on Friday because he's had one fewer day of rest than Cole in this series. The Rays could easily have a quick hook for Glasnow, too, if he struggles out of the gates.
