Alex Smith Now The Backup In Washington
4 years agoThe Washington Football Team has benched quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr. in favor of Kyle Allen for Week 5 against the Rams, and veteran Alex Smith will now serve as Allen's backup. Haskins will be inactive this weekend. It will be the first time that Smith has been active in an NFL game since 2018 before he suffered a gruesome leg injury that almost cost him his leg. The 36-year-old was once a top signal-caller in his days with the Chiefs, but nobody knows what to expect if he actually does get on the field for Washington. But just the fact that Smith will be on an active roster is a huge win for a player that could've easily had his career come to an end after multiple complications from his serious leg injury in 2018.
