Giovanny Gallegos Sustains Groin Injury Thursday
4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals right-handed pitcher Giovanny Gallegos departed Thursday during a doubleheader against Detroit due to what manager Mike Shildt confirmed was a groin injury. Gallegos likely will be sent for an MRI to determine the extent of the ailment, although any absence may allow lefty Andrew Miller to slot back into the closer’s role. Through 13 games this year, Gallegos has compiled a 3.97 ERA and locked down all four saves chances that he has had. Check back for an update on his status and whether or not he’ll need an IL stint.
