Derek Carr Needs To Lead Offense To More Scores
4 years agoLas Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was in charge of an offense that scored 26 points per game back in 2016 when the team went 12-4, but other than that season, he has had trouble getting the ball into the end zone. Carr had a 70.4 percent completion rate and career-highs in yardage (4,054) and yards per attempt (8.0) in 2019, but the Raiders still brought in competition for him in the offseason in the form of Marcus Mariota. Despite being 11th in the league in total yardage, the Raiders only scored touchdowns 52.8 percent of the time (22nd in the league) when they reached the red zone. Carr had a great training camp and has more weapons in the passing game this year, but he's shown in the past that he's nowhere near QB1 material. In a decent matchup against the Panthers in Week 1, he's a low-end QB2 for those in superflex leagues.
