Cam Newton Humbled In New England?
4 years agoNew England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton said he's not taking his new opportunity as the starting signal-caller of the Patriots for granted. Newton was also named a team captain. "Anything they ask of me to do, it's my job to do it," Newton said. The former MVP with the Panthers took it as a compliment to be named the starting QB by a coach who has the most Super Bowl rings in NFL history. Unlike Brady, the 31-year-old doesn't excel in the pocket, but he often extends plays with his legs and improvisational skills. Injury issues the last two seasons and an underwhelming receiving corps behind Julian Edelman push him out of the QB1 conversation, but he's a high-end QB2 if he's healthy with a coach that will surely cater the offense to his strengths.
