Welcome to the August 12th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 11th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- To describe the night, it was a circus. We’ve got inside-the-park homers, rumbling & tumbling, fireworks, and implosions.
- Bad Boys still coming for them stats. Bo Bichette (third HR) & Cavan Biggio (second SB). Don’t ask where the other guys are Vlad Guerrero Jr. & Randal Grichuk (one HR between them).
- Jesse Winker, we see you. .625 AVG w/ two HR over the last week. I imagine your 6% ownership will improve.
- A career .252 hitter w/ men on base. What happened, Adalberto Mondesi? You marooned six men.
- 31 HR in 2019. 5 HR/ .305 AVG for Renato Nunez in 2020. 64% owned. BABIP (.371) is insane. Careful of the 14.5% SwingStrike rate.
- Jean Segura is feeling frisky w/ two-straight homer games. Thankfully, as there has been little else.
- Lest anyone doubt. Jay Bruce still has the man-muscle. 447 ft.
- Andrew McCutchen is only 50% owned?! Yeah, its a .147 AVG, but his .185 BABIP. Check your leagues. Grab him or be ready to grab him. He won’t stay cold forever.
- Austin Hays worked out before the game, so don’t judge his 284-ft homer.* (Phillies saw his struggles & gave him a Win w/ inside-the-park variety.) That is the kindness I talk about.
- Marcell Ozuna (four) proud of his scorched homer (110 MPH). Aaron Judge (nine) dismisses it as child’s play (113.1).
- Luke Voit laughs loudest with the fifth souvenir donation for camera crew. I laugh not at all as I was skeptical (why would Cardinals trade him?)
- Bryce Harper loves a short season 4 HR, 324 AVG.
- Who are you? Andrew Velazquez? No, you don’t get a stolen base just for trying.
- Touki Toussaint was dealt a heavy blow vs. Yankees. Grab him over the next couple of days for the MIA outing. 9% owned.
- Jon Lester (2-0) w/ 1.06 ERA?! So 2020.
- How many hitters do I own that carry a .250 AVG or lower? Too many. Anyone else share these troubles?
- Ian Happ deserved to be back. Check your leagues. MI/CI/OF eligibility.
- "We want steals, Trea Turner.” Oh, a 356-foot bundle of joy. Thank you, kind sir.
- Max Scherzer is elite. Period.
- No C.J. Cron? No problems. Austin Romine is the hero. My hero for many of my teams. Some pop with decent batting average and got little respect.
- Chaos Reigns. Eloy Jimenez (four) shall not be denied. Bloop 353-ft stomp of defiance.
- Eddie Rosario (6) jumps on the tire swing. His performance is marvelous with two show-stopping launches into the lake.
- It’s Mike Brosseau season (third long ball). Hmm, but that comes at the expense of Brandon Lowe.
- Can’t hit, can’t steal. What can you do, Andrew Benintendi?
- C’mon champ. You’ve got to keep up with these young bucks. Pace yourself. Trevor Story w/ fourth SB. Fernando Tatis Jr. jumps to five.
- Nick Solak is the man. 3-for-4 w/ 3 RBI.
- Rougned Odor, you don’t need to match Mondesi’s six stranded buddies.
- Brandon Bielak. Lesson #1. If there’s something you value (Win), don’t give it to the bullpen.
- Hmm, maybe the cans were more valuable than we thought. Jose Altuve batting .187.
- I can already see someone drafting Dylan Bundy as a top-10 pitcher in 2021. (7 IP, 10 K)
- Shohei Ohtani makes thievery look so innocent and beautiful. 2nd SB.
- Wait until Manny Machado starts seeing the ball well. Fifth long ball.
- Endgame *
- *Sponsored by Pepto Bismol. The one that coats is the only one you need.
- Drop the Anthony Bass. He did. It hit hard on your ratios. (0.2 IP, 3 ER)
- Raisel Iglesias (1.1 IP) & Rosenthal both worked the ninth. Neither were involved in the decision.
- Cole Sulser owner frustrated by blown save, reconciles with W.
- Hector Neris (1 IP, 3 ER, 3 BB).
- Zach Britton (six). Disgruntled Aroldis Chapman owners that didn’t handcuff…..Grrr.
- Daniel Hudson (three).
- Edwin Diaz continues to run out a clean outing. Not long for a save opportunity.
- Josh Hader (three)
- Taylor Rogers can’t jog that stumble off (1 IP, 2 ER).
- Daniel Bard (one). Jairo Diaz fell on his face 0.1 IP, 2 ER. Coors will get you.
- Out of the shining light comes Rafael Montero (three) telling you that your $300+ shall not be wasted.
- Ryan Pressly (BS).
- Tyler Rogers (one).
- Hansel Robles w/ clean inning. Earning the trust back.
- “Oh shit, you called the Wolf?! That’s all you had to say. Drew Pomeranz w/ fourth SV.
- I know. It's late. Today's games are near. Sometimes life comes up. Don't quit. Always give your best effort. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
- No Fear, Just Fantasy.
