Jake Odorizzi Struggles With Command In Debut
4 years agoMinnesota Twins starter Jake Odorizzi needed 71 pitches to get through three frames in a 9-6 loss to the Royals. Odorizzi gave up four hits, two runs and two walks while striking out two. Only 40 of his 71 pitches were strikes, as he struggled with command throughout his season debut. In particular, the 30-year-old was missing with his splitter and fastball, two pitches that worked well for him in 2019. Fortunately, the velocity was there for Odorizzi, so he just needs to find the zone a bit more in his next start. He'll get another crack at the Royals in his next start.
