Welcome to the August 3rd edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 2nd games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Some people are just not good communicators. What do they call them? Runaway Grooms?! Yoenis Cespedes has opted out.
- Nasty Nick Castellanos! Doing Detroit dirty. Two shots of ’Somebody That I used to know.'
- Aaron Judge continues to orchestra a symphony of destruction (six HR, five days)
- Trent Grisham novel cont.: The birds could be heard far and wide across the forest. Josephine found Beau on the front porch soaking in the view. “You want a shot of espresso to get the day started,” she said. “Make it a Double,” he replied with a smile.
- Anthony DeSclafani had an easy wing going (5 IP, 2 K)
- Doesn’t it feel like players are stealing bases more often & getting picked off/caught more often? They have nothing better to do than to give the game their whole attention.
- Trevor Bauer w/ complete-game shutout (seven-inning variety). No bullpen help needed.
- Brandon Lowe (second HR) having better plate discipline to start the year. Lower Chase ( 21.8%) & SwingStrike (15.2%). Now just bring us the speed.
- Hanser Alberto (3-for-5) and Renato Nunez (second HR) looking good. The Os have a road trip though. Pack a few ham & cheese sammiches. Yes the ones with the cheese bits in the ham is fine.
- Watch out Mr. David Peterson. You’re bordering on disrespectful w/ 6 IP, 3 ER, 8 K vs. Braves. The Champs are next. (Psst, give ‘em hell.)
- Welcome to the party, Yasmani Grandal. 3-for-4, three RBI.
- Cesar Hernandez w/ .395 OBP. We’ve got a need…a need for speed.
- Well done, Dylan Cease. A win vs. the Royals. But can you do it vs. the (pause for sarcastic effect)…Tigers next?
- You’re disappointed w/ Colin Moran’s 0-for-5? You expect a HR daily? Who do you think he is, Judge?
- Aaron Civale for the win. No, not vs MIN (he lost). But he won my heart with challenging matchups (6 IP, 3 ER, 9 K)
- Jorge Polanco. Pick yourself back up & try another SB.
- THUNDER!! Joey Gallo batting .310 w/ long-distance vision (third) for the Oracle.
- And all the Ryan McMahon truthers said…”Yes, we were right. It feels so good.” It feels like his 1st homer.
- Mookie Betts (two) & Cody Bellinger (one) flexing their muscles was all that was necessary. Loss averted.
- Antonio Senzatela w/ second win. You’re gonna make me look under the hood, aren’t you? Only for road starts, of course.
- You want players to be successful. Jurickson Profar w/ .094 AVG…. God speed, young man.
- Kyle Lewis w/ third tater. Wait, do they eat taters in Seattle? Third shellfish doesn’t have the same ring.
- Chris Bassitt takes the honors (first W). Avoid vs. HOU.
- Marcus Semien needs a full season to produce like you drafted him. Yes, .205 AVG won’t stick in short season.
- Clayton Kershaw was back to his ace-like ways (5.2 IP, 6 K).
- Josh James, 3 IP, 4 ER, 6 BB, 4 K was not the stat line I hoped for.
- Xander Bogaerts performs CPR to BoSox offense. Two quick shots of power (three) to revive the team.
- Yankees, can you just let us know if James Paxton is a three-inning man?
- Albert Pujols keeps eating. He loves a table full of his friends. Grand Slam!
- Mike Tauchman, stop running (third SB). You weren’t in my active lineup. Ok, now go.
- Can someone just let Shohei Ohtani bat all the time? (Good luck w/ MRI, young man).
- Most men Left Behind: Pete Alonso (six), here you are again. It’s like you don’t care about your comrades. This has to be the wor……hold on. Brian Goodwin & Eugenio Suarez?! Seven? Seriously? Kyle Tucker, how do you build rapport when you leave eight. Jose Altuve, are you trying to be a lone wolf? Nine men left behind?!
- Endgame (Closer Roulette in 2020)
- Raisel Iglesias w/ the win.
- Joe Jimenez stumbled a bit (1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER). No other options.
- Cole Sulser (three). Two clean innings.
- Jonathan Hernandez w/ two-inning win. They’re not unique, the bullpen is a mess.
- Greg Holland in the seventh? Hmm. Rosie time.
- Sergio Romo (two). These are just juicy scraps from Taylor Rogers’ leftovers.
- Jeremy Jeffress w/ the win. Wick resting for SV opportunity.
- Ty Buttrey let the save slip through his fingers.
- Matt Barnes. Not the guy for the night.
- Jairo Diaz (one). We rush to another COL closer. Me and Coors pitchers still don’t get along.
- Kenley Jansen (two).
- Liam Hendriks (three).
- Zach Britton (three). Get them while you can.
- I hope your FAAB went well. Keep grinding. Remember, try to win each individual week, not the whole season in one fell swoop. Have a great Monday everyone.
