Jon Gray Developing His Changeup
4 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray has been happy with all three of his secondary pitches through live batting practice and instrasquad action, including his developing changeup. Manager Bud Black and pitching coach Steve Foster think Gray's changeup can take him to a higher level. Gray's 2019 season ended early because of a foot fracture, and he finished with a 3.84 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 150 strikeouts and 56 walks in 150 innings and 25 starts. Most owners in mixed leagues are hesitant to draft Gray because of the Coors Field factor, but he can be a nice source of K's in deep mixed and NL-only leagues. The 28-year-old right-hander is also an attractive DFS play when he's pitching on the road.
