Kenley Jansen Still Absent From Camp
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he has spoken with closer Kenley Jansen, who is "in good spirits" and is expected to arrive in summer camp "soon." Jansen is one of nine players who have not reported, along with Pedro Baez, Gavin Lux, A.J. Pollock, Scott Alexander, Keibert Ruiz, Zach Reks, Cody Thomas and Edwin Uceta. Roberts thinks Jansen will be ready to close when the season begins in two weeks and that "Kenley is our guy." Relief pitchers need less time to get ready for the regular season, so Jansen has that going for him, but each day that he's absent makes him more of a risk as a top-10 fantasy closer. The right-hander didn't look like an elite ninth-inning guy in 2019, although he still had 33 saves and 80 K's in 63 innings. Baez would likely be the next in line for saves if Jansen weren't ready, but he also hasn't shown up to camp.
