Joey Gallo Tests Positive For COVID-19
4 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder Joey Gallo confirmed that he tested positive for COVID-19. Gallo was first tested on June 27 and received the positive result on June 29. He took another nasal test that was negative but then took another saliva test on July 2, and that test came back positive on Sunday. The slugging outfielder must test negative twice 24 hours apart before he can report to camp. The good news, however, is that he is asymptomatic and has time to be ready for Opening Day later this month. The news of his positive tests may cause him to fall a bit on draft boards, but the 26-year-old has immense power and should remain in consideration as a fringe top-25 fantasy outfielder. Gallo is also more attractive in leagues that count on-base percentage, but his low batting average will be a drain.
