Tom Murphy To Sit Out Monday
4 years agoSeattle Mariners catcher Tom Murphy (foot) is likely to sit out of Monday's workouts after fouling a ball off his foot on Sunday, but manager Scott Servais said it's just a bruise. Consider Murphy day-to-day for now, and he should be completely fine for the regular season opener later this month. The power-hitting backstop was solid for the M's last year, hitting 18 home runs and driving in 40 in 260 at-bats. He's expected to be in some sort of platoon with Austin Nola, but he should see more playing time than last year and is a nice second catcher in two-catcher leagues for his power. Murphy is also a nice lower-price option in DFS when he faces left-handers.
