Charlie Morton Undecided On Retirement After 2020
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Charlie Morton hasn't made a decision on his playing career after the 2020 season, but a part of him doesn't want to end his career "this way" in the odd circumstances surrounding the shortened 60-game season due to COVID-19. Morton said he's in good shape and ready for the season, and his health and other circumstances will dictate his decision after this year. The 36-year-old has been outstanding the last two years with the Astros and Rays, earning All-Star selections both years while going a combined 31-9 with a 3.09 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 11.0 K/9 in 63 starts (361 2/3 innings). But because of his age and health concerns, he's a risky low-end fantasy ace. A shorter season might make him more worth the investment, though.
