Spring Training 2.0 Could Start By June 29
4 years agoIf Major League Baseball and the Players Association can complete their negotiations by this Friday, the plan is for players to report to spring training 2.0 by June 29, with three full weeks of spring training before the 2020 season would begin. Most teams would train in their own home cities before starting the regular season on July 19. MLB proposed a new 60-game schedule to the players that would include their full prorated salaries and expanded playoffs this year and next, as long as the players union agrees not to file a grievance against the owners. Progress is being made, but the two sides still have work to do on the number of regular season games and the health concerns surrounding COVID-19.
