Byron Leftwich, Tom Brady Bonding
4 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich was playing for the Jaguars, Falcons, Steelers and Buccaneers when quarterback Tom Brady was becoming a star in the NFL with the Patriots some 15 years ago. "The history that he understands, the history that I understand, the ability for us to be able to talk top-level football, high-level football," Leftwich said. Brady won his second Super Bowl the same season that Leftwich All-Rookie team. Brady also outdueled Leftwich in a game that year, completing 22 of 34 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns against Jacksonville. The Patriots beat Leftwich two years later in the playoffs, 28-3. The 42-year-old Brady doesn't have high-end upside anymore despite an improved supporting cast in Tampa, but he'll be an acceptable low-end QB1 if you want to wait on the position in 2020.
