Justin Jefferson More Than Just A Slot Receiver
4 years agoMinnesota Vikings rookie wide receiver Justin Jefferson, taken 22nd overall in the first round, has a safe floor with a lot of upside in 2020. Per Pro Football Focus in 2019 out of the slot, Jefferson had 109 catches (second-most in a single season since 2014), 18 touchdowns (the most) and 1,518 yards (second-most). He caught 12 of 13 contested targets last year (92.3 percent), which was the highest rate among college receivers. But the impressive thing about Jefferson is that he can also excel outside of the slot, which is important because Adam Thielen makes his living in the slot. With Stefon Diggs now in Buffalo, Jefferson has opportunity and makes for a nice WR4/5 target late in drafts. Minnesota's run-heavy approach, though, could limit the rookie's Year 1 ceiling.
