Toronto Takes Trent Palmer Among Last Three Selections
5 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays selected Jacksonville University pitcher Trent Palmer with the 77th overall pick in the third round in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. Loyola Marymount University pitcher Nick Frasso then went in the fourth round, followed by Louisville outfielder Zach Britton in the fifth round. Palmer, a right-hander, doesn't have prototypical pitcher size and has spent more time as a reliever, but he has the chance to stick in a rotation because of his velocity and three- or four-pitch mix. Frasso, a 6-foot-5 right-hander that can hit 97 mph with his fastball, could be a starter or reliever with his ability to throw plenty of strikes. Britton was a clutch hitter in college from the left side and hit .280 with seven home runs, 60 RBI, 24 doubles and 39 walks in 279 at-bats and 110 games in his college career.
