Carlos Hyde Battling For Backup Role
5 years agoSeattle Seahawks running back Carlos Hyde understands that he's most likely competing for the No. 2 spot behind Chris Carson this year, saying that "everybody knows" that Carson is the starter in Seattle. With Rashaad Penny (knee) looking more likely to start the year on the Physically Unable to Perform list, the reality is that the Seahawks will find a role for Hyde. The 28-year-old had 245 carries for a career-high 1,070 rushing yards and six touchdowns for the Texans last year. If Carson is healthy, Hyde's role will likely be as an early down complement and short-yardage weapon in the running game. That role probably won't give Hyde much standalone fantasy value, but he'll at least be worth considering as Carson's early season handcuff.
