Adam Trautman 2020 Outlook: A Developmental Tight End With Upside
5 years agoThe University of Dayton product will grace the NFL field for the first time this season. The New Orleans Saints selected Adam Trautman in the third round in this year’s draft, making him one of the first tight end prospects off the board. After finishing his senior season strong with 916 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns while owning a 33.73 percent share of the Flyers passing production, Trautman took things up a notch by dominating the opposition at the Senior Bowl. From there, he proved that he was an athletic specimen when he posted a 96th percentile 6.78 three-cone at the combine. The Saints will be trotting out 33-year-old Jared Cook as their starting tight end this year. Trautman could see an increase in snaps if something happens to him. To no surprise, he is going undrafted in most fantasy drafts. However, he’s a player you want to think about snatching off your waiver wire immediately when he becomes more involved with the offense. He’s a young talented tight end who could blossom with Drew Brees slinging the ball. The hit rate for rookie tight ends in fantasy is far short of immaculate as it usually takes a few years of seasoning before a tight end can hit full stride. Trautman is a very intriguing prospect, but he’s going to best left on the waiver wire until we see him on the field more.
