DeAndre Hopkins 2020 Outlook: A Desert Oasis
5 years agoArizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is arguably the best player on his team. Add to this the ascending talent of Kyler Murray and the offense is Arizona is much superior to the one he left behind in Houston. Hopkins is not a precision route runner like Stefon Diggs or Keenan Allen, and he is not going to separate like the other speedy receivers in the NFL. However, what he will do is catch everything thrown in his vicinity, often doing so whether or not there are defenders draped over him. With future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald and young star Christian Kirk alongside, Hopkins has the best and most reliable supporting cast he has had since Andre Johnson. The run game in Arizona has come to life with Kenyon Drake breaking out over the last half of the season. With Drake back for another go around and Murray in his second season, Hopkins is entering his prime on a new team whose trajectory is on the rise. This is clearly Hopkins' team, and he will continue to be a receiver who will attract over 25% of his team's target share moving forward. Michael Thomas may have surpassed Hopkins as the top overall wideout in fantasy, but Hopkins has not slipped much. He is still a top two or three receiver and is still valuable in the middle to the late first round in fantasy drafts. Draft him as early as you want and without hesitation, as he is still elite and will remain so for the foreseeable future.
