Mike Williams 2020 Outlook: New QB, New Me?
5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams will enter the 2020 season with a new quarterback for the first time in his career. Williams has played with Philip Rivers since being drafted seventh overall in the 2017 draft. This season, he'll play with Tyrod Taylor and likely Justin Herbert under center. That could actually be a great thing for Williams, who has averaged 9.8 yards per target over the past three seasons, sixth most in the NFL. Taylor and Herbert should both offer more deep ball upside than Rivers did over the past few seasons, making 2020 a possible splash year for Williams. Keenan Allen will remain in his role as the featured receiver in the Chargers passing game, and Hunter Henry and Austin Ekeler will demand targets as well, but Williams has strong WR2 upside and is an even better bet in best ball formats, where his splash weeks won't have to be predicted in advance.
