Nick Solak To See Significant Playing Time In Left Field
5 years agoWith Texas Rangers outfielder Willie Calhoun (jaw) expected to miss significant playing time to begin the season due to a fractured jaw, utility man Nick Solak is expected to replace Calhoun in left field, according to manager Chris Woodward. Solak had been bouncing around positions this spring, and the Rangers were trying to find a way to get him consistent at-bats. “If the season started today, [Solak] would be in left field,” Woodward said. Solak came over from the Rays last year and hit an impressive .293/.393/.491 with five home runs and 17 RBI in 116 at-bats for Texas. He should be a staple in AL-only leagues and is worth a late-round flier in deep mixed leagues now that he'll be an everyday player to begin the 2020 season.
