Taijuan Walker Looks Good Wednesday
5 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Taijuan Walker (elbow) threw two innings in a B game on Wednesday and allowed no hits, no walks and struck out two while throwing 21 of his 31 pitches for strikes. Walker had been limited to bullpen sessions and live batting practice in camp as the team slowly prepares him for his first season following Tommy John surgery. The oft-injured right-hander hit 94 mph with his fastball, and his curveball looked good as well. "I feel like I can be aggressive now especially when I step out there I feel good. I just let it loose, I don’t have any worries in my head about my elbow or shoulder. It makes it a lot easier to pitch, it makes it more fun," Walker said. He should have the upper hand on the final rotation spot this year if he's healthy, and he'll be a low-risk sleeper in AL-only leagues.
