Jakob Junis' Back Injury Not Serious
5 years agoKansas City Royals manager Mike Matheny said that starting pitcher Jakob Junis' (back) tightness is not a serious concern. Junis may throw on the side in a day or two, but the team is just being cautious at this time. The 27-year-old righty went 9-14 with a 5.24 ERA and 1.43 WHIP while striking out 164 and walking 58 in 175 1/3 innings over 31 starts for the Royals in 2019. He's allowed 30-plus home runs in back-to-back seasons and has just a career 8.1 K/9, so he lacks much fantasy upside on a rebuilding Royals club. Junis should only be an option for those in AL-only leagues as mostly an innings-eater.
