Blake Snell To Throw On Tuesday
5 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Blake Snell (elbow) is feeling better and is expected to throw on Tuesday after he came out of his first spring start last week "super sore." Testing on his left elbow showed no additional bone chips and just inflammation after he had bone chips removed from the same arm. The left-hander also received a cortisone injection on Friday. If all goes well on Tuesday, Snell will advance to a bullpen session on Friday, and he could pitch in a game on March 8 or 9. In a best-case scenario, he'll be set back around a week into the regular season. Snell won the American League Cy Young in 2018 but had surgery for bone chips last July and missed two months. Snell is being drafted as low-end fantasy ace, but there's more risk around him now that he could miss a start or two to begin the season.
