Mets Not Concerned About Brandon Nimmo
5 years agoUpdating a previous report, New York Mets manager Luis Rojas called outfielder Brandon Nimmo's cardiac screening on Wednesday "precautionary." Rojas called the tests relatively routine and said he's not concerned about Nimmo. Nimmo was scratched from the Grapefruit League lineup on Wednesday, but it looks like he'll be just fine. That's great news after the 26-year-old (27 next month) played in only 69 games for the Mets in 2019 because of injuries. He became fantasy relevant in mixed leagues in 2018 when he hit .263 with an .886 OPS, 17 home runs, 47 RBI and nine steals in 140 games. But he'll face stiff competition in the outfield this year and could just be a platoon guy in a corner outfield spot, especially if Yoenis Cespedes (ankle, heels) stays on the field.
