No Lingering Thumb Issues For Javier Baez
5 years agoChicago Cubs manager David Ross said there are no lingering thumb issues for shortstop Javier Baez. "He's told me no. I've asked him that. I asked him that a while back with the training in the offseason, and I haven't heard anything from our training staff on that subject. So as far as I know, he's 100 percent," Ross said. Baez had a hairline fracture in his left thumb the last month of the season but was an All-Star for the second straight season and hit .281/.316/.531 with 29 home runs, 85 RBI and 11 stolen bases. It wasn't quite up to par with his 2018 season when he finished second in National League MVP voting, but Baez has immense raw power and speed. He's RotoBaller's No. 6 fantasy shortstop and will come off draft boards around the third or fourth round.
