Shelby Miller Down 30 Pounds
5 years agoMilwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Shelby Miller, who is in camp as a non-roster invite, is down 30 pounds from last year when he tipped the scales at 255 pounds. It's that time of the year: When we'll hear plenty of best-shape-of-my-life stories. The former first-round pick in 2009 is motivated, though, after posting a hideous 8.59 ERA and 1.98 WHIP in 19 outings (eight starts) for the Rangers last season. He didn't fare much better in the Brewers minor league system. The 29-year-old right-hander hasn't had an ERA under 4.00 since 2015 with the Braves when he made his only All-Star team. Miller will need to perform much better in spring training in order to have a shot at making the team's Opening Day roster. You can avoid him in all leagues for now, but he might be worth a dollar bid in NL-only leagues if he makes the squad.
