Chiefs Want To Bring Sammy Watkins Back
5 years agoThe Kansas City Chiefs would like to bring wide receiver Sammy Watkins back in 2020. Watkins is only 26 years old and has had big performances for the Chiefs the last two postseasons, including going over 100 yards with a score in the AFC Championship against the Titans this year and his five-catch, 98-yard effort in the Super Bowl, but the issue will be money. He's due $14 million in the final year of his contract next season with a salary cap number of $21 million, so the Chiefs might ask him to take a pay cut in order to keep him around. All three of Watkins' touchdowns in the regular season came in the opener, and he failed to top 64 yards in any regular season game after that despite Tyreek Hill missing time with injury. Even if he stays in KC with Patrick Mahomes, Watkins will be an unreliable, boom-or-bust fantasy wideout.
