Nick Senzel Not Expected To Be Traded
5 years agoCincinnati Reds president of baseball operations Dick Williams said that he expects outfielder Nick Senzel to remain with the team for the 2020 season. "I like what he brings to our club. He’s one of our own. He’s an impact, young offensive player. They don’t come along very often. The flexibility he brings to the club, attitude he brings. At this point, we see him as very much a part of a winning, championship team here," Williams said. Even though Senzel struggled somewhat in his rookie season in 2019 and is coming off labrum surgery in his right shoulder, the Reds are optimistic about his potential. Because of the surgery, Senzel isn't a candidate to play third base or shortstop this year. The 24-year-old will play every day if he's healthy, and his power-speed combination makes him an attractive upside pick in drafts in an improved lineup. If the Reds don't trade Senzel, it'll be bad news mostly for Jesse Winker and Aristides Aquino, as Cincy also has Nicholas Castellanos and Shogo Akiyama in their outfield.
