Cale Makar, Avalanche Overpower Blues
5 years agoThe Colorado Avalanche needed just 18 shots to score five goals on Saturday night in a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Blues. Rookie Cale Makar scored his second goal in two games and now has 11 on the season -- a franchise record for a first-year defenseman. Overall, he has 35 points in 40 games. Of those points, 14 have come on the power play. Andre Burakovsky had a goal and an assist. He now has six points in the last five games. Overall, he has 31 points through 45 games. His career-high in points was set in 2015-16 with 38. Ian Cole added two assists. For St. Louis, David Perron had a goal and an assist. He now has nine points in the last seven games. Ryan O’Reilly had two helpers and now has 34 assists in 49 games. Goalie Jordan Binnington was yanked from the game after allowing four goals on 11 shots.
