Charlie Blackmon 2020 Outlook: Top-Tier Outfielder Once Again
5 years agoCharlie Blackmon exceeded expectations in 2019 as he hit .314/.364/.576 with 32 home runs, 112 runs scored, 86 RBI and two steals in his ninth MLB year. He also sported a superb .403 wOBA, 40.3% hard-hit rate, and a .262 ISO (second highest of his career). He primarily hit leadoff and, of course, playing half of his games at Coors Field (#1 in Park Factor) again helped his cause. This was his fourth straight year hitting at least 29 homers as he has been a consistent force for a long time now. Blackmon isn't running anymore as he recorded the lowest number of steals since he became a full-time player, but his production elsewhere kept him firmly in the upper-echelon of fantasy outfielders. Blackmon's late-career power surge and stellar average and on-base percentage, coupled with the fact that he projects to continue hitting leadoff at the top park for boosting offensive production, keep him in the conversation as a top-10 outfielder. He's currently being drafted as OF14 at 45th overall and he can be confidently targeted in that range.
