Ilya Kovalchuk Lifts Montreal To Overtime Win
5 years agoRecently-acquired Ilya Kovalchuk scored in overtime to give a struggling Canadiens club its first win in nine games by a score of 2-1 on Saturday night. It was his first goal with his new team but his fourth point in four games. Kovalchuk had just nine points in 17 games with the Kings. Rookie winger Nick Suzuki scored the other goal and is now up to 27 points in 46 games. He has 10 points in his last 10 games. Veteran netminder Carey Price, who has had up-and-down results this season, was excellent and stopped 41 of 42 shots for just his third win in his last 10 games. Ottawa’s rookie goalie Marcus Hogberg has now had two good starts in a row although he’s taken a loss in overtime in both of them. He’s posted save percentages of .920 or better in each. Although he didn’t find the score sheet, Brady Tkachuk made his presence felt with six shots and six hits.
