Hunter Renfroe Avoids Arbitration
5 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Hunter Renfroe avoided salary arbitration on Friday by agreeing to a one-year, $3.3 million deal. Renfroe came over to the Rays this offseason in the trade that sent Tommy Pham to the Padres. Although he hit just .216 in 140 games for the Friars, Renfroe delivered on his power potential by hitting a career-high 33 home runs while driving in 64. He's had at least 26 round-trippers in each of the last three seasons and will give Tampa some legitimate outfielder thump in 2020 and beyond. Moving out of Petco Park and into the slugfest of the American League East will probably be good news for Renfroe in the long run.
