Chiefs Defense Playing Well Heading Into Playoffs
5 years agoThe Kansas City Chiefs Defense ranked 31st in total defense last season, and since 2013, no team entering the playoffs had allowed more points per game than the Chiefs (26.3). Steve Spagnuolo overhauled the 2019 defense in his first year on the job, and he wanted safety Tyrann Mathieu to be a chess piece at safety, nickel corner and cornerback. In the first six weeks of the season, KC's defense ranked 27th overall, 19th in scoring and 30th against the run. Since Week 11, the Chiefs have allowed only 11.5 points per game and 95 yards per contest on the ground. Kansas City's defense was their Achilles heel in 2018, but they have become a strength this season. Most people will probably overlook their D in DFS tournaments in the Divisional Round, but you shouldn't.
