Cam Newton To Have Surgery
5 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (foot) plans to have surgery on his left foot, according to a source. Newton aggravated his Lisfranc foot injury in a Week 2 loss to the Buccaneers. He decided not to have surgery after visiting with Dr. Robert Anderson last month. Newton also disappointed in 2018 because of a right shoulder injury, and the 30-year-old has one year left on his deal through the 2020 season. If the Panthers decide to move on from him with a new head coach coming in next year, they would clear $19.1 million in salary cap space. Kyle Allen won his first four starts in place of Newton, but he has now lost five of his last six games and is a weak QB2 option moving forward. Newton's fantasy value will drop even further into QB2 territory next season.
