5 years agoThe Houston Astros set their starting rotation for the American League Division Series against either the A's or Rays, which begins on Friday. Justin Verlander will go in Game 1, followed by Gerrit Cole and Zack Greinke. No surprise here. The Astros have the best starting rotation in baseball, hands down. Verlander led baseball in WAR (wins above replacement) for pitchers (7.8), wins (21), WHIP (0.80) and innings pitched (223), while Cole led baseball in strikeouts per nine innings (13.82) and strikeouts (326). Verlander ranked second in strikeouts behind Cole with 300. The next closest pitcher was Indians starter Shane Bieber at 259 K's.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
